Coimbatore: Police on Sunday arrested a 22-year-old college student for sexually harassing two girl students at Kuniyamuthur and Kovaipudur in the city on Saturday. The arrested youth was identified as S Sri Dharsan, a resident of Amman Kovil Street, Vathiyar Vilai in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district. He was studying in the second year of his MA (English Literature) at a private college in the city and was staying in a rented room at BK Pudur in Kuniyamuthur. At around 3 pm on Saturday, Dharsan caught his 21-year-old lover when she was going to meet her friend at Kuniyamuthur. He sexually harassed her and threatened to circulate her private photos on social media. The girl immediately filed a complaint with the Kuniyamuthur police, who registered a case against Dharsan under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (TNPHW) Act. On the same day, Dharsan harassed another 19-year-old college student, who was also in love with him, in Kovaipudur. Based on her complaint, the Kuniyamuthur police filed another case against Dharsan. He was arrested on Sunday evening and remanded in custody.
