RGIA police officer befriends girl, shoots indecent video, rapes her and is detained

Hyderabad: Police have arrested a policeman for allegedly blackmailing and raping a young girl.

He was identified as G. Pradeep and charged under the POCSO Act.

ACP Srinivas, accompanied by Inspector Nagendra Babu, said Pradeep, a 2020 batch constable, was previously posted at Pet Basheerabad police station. They said he is currently posted at RGIA police station. He is a resident of Budvel area under the jurisdiction of Rajendranagar police station.

Pradeep met the victim while visiting a nearby church. Over time, he manipulated her into believing that he wanted to marry her and made compromising videos. He later used these videos to blackmail her, threatening to post videos on social media if she did not comply with his demands.

Last year, Pradeep got married. When the victim’s mother came to know about the situation, she filed a complaint with the Rajendranagar police. Later, Pradeep was arrested.

ACP Srinivas confirmed that a case has been registered and Pradeep has been remanded in custody. He assured that a comprehensive investigation is underway and after completion, a report will be submitted to the higher authorities.
