Insiders claim Princess Anne “cannot remember exactly what happened” during her accident, which left her hospitalized.

The king’s younger sister, who is 73 years old, was on the Gatcombe estate in Gloucestershire on Sunday evening when she was probably hit in the head by a horse. According to MailOnlineAccording to Dr Rebecca English, little is known about the incident as the Princess Royal cannot remember exactly what happened due to the severity of her injuries. This meant her medical team had to guess at the most likely incident given the severity of her injuries. Doctors concluded that the wounds were “consistent with the possible effects of a headbutt or kick by one or more animals”.

An air ambulance was called to the scene where she was treated. Her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, then accompanied her to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for examination and treatment. Buckingham Palace said: “The Princess Royal has suffered minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate last night. Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation as a precautionary measure and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.”

Princess Anne is an accomplished horse rider who competed in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. She will now have to miss at least nine appointments, including the banquet to mark the Japanese state visit and a trip to Canada.
