TSA employee charged in alleged rage-driving shooting; bullets hit car – Press and Guide

Michigan State Police are investigating a suspected shooting that occurred on I-275 northbound near Sibley Road after a vehicle was struck by bullets.

Alec Nicholas Thieman, 28, of Deta, Ohio, was charged with assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, reckless driving, commission of a serious felony with a motor vehicle and three counts of aggravated use of a firearm.

He was arraigned in 34th District Court on Friday morning and ordered held on $250,000 bail.

The probable cause conference is scheduled for June 26 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Lisa Martin.

The incident occurred on June 12 at around 6:40 a.m.

According to the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office, Thieman pulled out a handgun and fired it while driving north on I-275 near Pennsylvania Road, striking a car driven by a 46-year-old Romulus man twice.

The victim did not suffer any gunshot wounds in the shooting, police said.

According to Michigan State Police, the Romulus Police Department notified officers of the shooting and requested assistance.
