Man arrested for raping woman after promising marriage

Thane: A 36-year-old man was arrested by Navi Mumbai police for allegedly raping a woman after promising to marry her, an official said on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old woman had filed a complaint against Mosin Hanif Muzawar at the Panvel police station.

She told police that she had an affair with the accused, who raped her after promising to marry her but later ended the relationship.

On Monday, a case was registered under sections 376 (rape) and 376(2)(n) of the Penal Code (raping the same woman multiple times) and the accused was kept late into the night. Further investigation is underway.
