Rhian Ramos wants to fight sexual harassment

16 November – Rhian Ramos is so surprised and inspired by all the victims of sexual harassment who have told her their stories that she vows to do something about it.

As PEP News reported, Ramos had previously experienced such an incident herself when a man touched her inappropriately while she was out with friends.

“I always thought of myself as a strong girl who would fight back if someone ever did something like that to me. Honestly, it’s different when you’re already in that situation. I was stunned and didn’t know what to do,” she admitted.

Ramos stated that although the man initially apologized to her, he still groped her as he was leaving and disappeared before she could do anything.

“This was something I refused to give up. I couldn’t understand why a man should have the right to touch a woman without her consent. To take something from her by force. I was wearing loose pants and a loose top. At no point did I even make eye contact with this man. What did I do to demand this? I realized that it is not the woman’s fault that a man treats her this way, even if I had been scantily clad. This moment, sir, says more about the kind of man you are. I hated him even more for making me doubt myself.”

Shortly after she posted the message online, both Ramos’ fans and social media users began sharing their own bitter experiences with sexual harassment.

She later posted: “I am inspired by the women who fought back, but I am doubly inspired by the women who never got the chance. Thanks again for sharing and I promise to do something about this problem.”

“However, I would like to encourage everyone to protect one another. Kindness and respect make the difference,” she added.
