3 dead after accident near Council Grove

COUNCIL GROVE, Kansas (KSNW) – Three people are dead in an accident near Council Grove.

It happened just before 4 p.m. Saturday on Kelso Road and P Avenue, about 6 miles northwest of Council Grove near the lakes. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by a 53-year-old White City man was traveling south on Kelso Road when it crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2024 Toyota Rav4.

The driver of the Rav4, identified as Troy Sabean, 33, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and his passengers Ann Porter, 69, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and Emma Porter, 33, of Roseville, Minnesota, died at the scene. Two other occupants of the Rav4 were taken to a hospital in Topeka for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, a 51-year-old woman from White City, was taken to KU Medical Center in critical condition.

The accident is being investigated.
