Woman killed in shooting after confronting car thieves

BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge detectives are investigating after a woman was shot and killed as she and her family members confronted car thieves late Tuesday night.

BRPD announced that 29-year-old Roneisha Truvillion was shot at around 10:30 p.m. at the corner of Spanishtown Rd. and N. 13th St. in the Elysian Apartments complex

She and a family member reportedly confronted car thieves, who then fired a gun at the woman. Truvillion was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Investigators have not yet released how many burglars were involved or if they broke into the woman’s or family’s car. The investigation is currently ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869.
