King & Spalding and Alston remain Georgia’s largest law firms, but their competitors are growing rapidly in Atlanta

Two well-known law firm names shared the top spot for Georgia’s largest law firm by headcount last year, but other large national firms have expanded their Atlanta offices to a much faster pace in recent years.

Alston & Bird and King & Spalding, founded in Atlanta, each had about 350 full-time equivalent attorneys in their Midtown Atlanta offices in 2023, according to ALM data, as they maintained their longtime role as most large law firm in Georgia.
