Road closure on D Street in Victorville due to overturned semi-truck

VICTORVILLE, CA. – Motorists in Victorville are advised to seek alternative routes as a section of the westbound lanes on D Street is currently closed.

The closure comes after a traffic accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer today, May 17, 2024, at around 4:30 p.m.

The incident occurred near the northbound Interstate 15 offramp and involved a black Dodge Ram and a semi-truck. Witnesses report that the semi-truck lost its brakes as it left the highway and overturned.

The pickup driver was able to stop in time and avoided impact with the overturned truck.

A small fuel leak from the semi-truck has been contained and recovery operations are underway. A crew was deployed to safely unload the boxes from the overturned trailer and transfer them to a new trailer.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the westbound lanes of D Street are closed from the Sherman Way exit as investigation and cleanup work continues. The eastbound lanes remain open, as does the NB I-15 D Street exit.

Victorville police are investigating the cause of the accident. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and plan for possible delays.

Earlier this month, on May 2, a box truck and a Rav4 were involved in a similar collision at the same intersection.

The official cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Victorville Police Department.
