Enfield Police K-9 Duke receives body armor

ENFIELD, CT. (WWLP) – The Enfield Police Department’s K-9 Duke will receive a bullet and stab protection vest as a donation from a local nonprofit organization.

Valid interest in K9s, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 2009, whose mission is to provide bulletproof and stab-resistant vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States, so Enfield Police Station. The nonprofit organization has provided over 5,435 vests valued at $6.9 million to K-9 children in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The nonprofit is donating a bullet and stab protection vest to K-9 Duke with the inscription, “This gift of protection is provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc..” The vest is expected to arrive within eight to 10 weeks.

The program is open to all dogs in the United States that are at least 20 months old and are actively employed and certified by law enforcement or related agencies. K-9 players whose vests have expired are also eligible to participate.

There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K-9 fighters in the United States, and not all of them have body armor. Each vest is valued at $1,800, weighs an average of 4 to 5 pounds, and comes with a five-year warranty.
