Pedestrian struck and killed by hit-and-run driver in Oildale: CHP

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – A man was struck and killed by a fleeing driver in Oildale Friday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials released information about the accident, but few details are available about the identity of the male pedestrian.


Officials said the man was struck by the vehicle on the westbound lanes of Universe Avenue, just west of Chester Avenue, at around 9:35 p.m. on July 12. The pedestrian died of his injuries at the scene.

The unknown vehicle fled the scene after striking the pedestrian. CHP did not release a vehicle description.

Officials are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
