1 dead after shooting in north Charlotte, CMPD reports – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE – One person died in a shooting in north Charlotte early Tuesday morning, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Police said they were called to the 3800 block of Statesville Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. for an assault with a deadly weapon.

A person was found dead at the scene with a gunshot wound.

This incident is already the fourth murder in the city within 24 hours.

Channel 9’s Eli Brand spoke to police officials about the increase in violence.

“Several people have fired shots, and again, several people are resorting to gun violence to solve problems and continue this vicious cycle of shooting each other on a daily basis, and unfortunately that has now resulted in someone dying,” said Major Bret Balamucki.

Police said the investigation into this case is ongoing. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with a homicide detective.
