Pine Bluff police arrest man on suspicion of domestic violence and rely on witnesses to search for suspect

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas – A man wanted by Pine Bluff police and accused of multiple counts of domestic violence is now in custody after a nearly week-long manhunt.

Pine Bluff police officials said 48-year-old Sylvester Brown was arrested Monday afternoon. Officers began searching for Brown, who is wanted for first-degree domestic violence and other crimes, on July 3.

Authorities reported that Brown had no home and was living in abandoned houses, making it difficult for investigators to locate his whereabouts. Police attributed the fact that Brown was taken into custody to many local residents calling and sharing information about Brown sightings.

Department officials point out that Brown also has an arrest warrant for evading justice.

Investigators said the victim in that case remains in intensive care at a local hospital. Additional charges may be pending against Brown, authorities added.
