Virginia Beach man charged with sexual assault

Benjamin Lois Young was found guilty of forcible sodomy and sexual penetration with objects.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia – A man has been charged with sexually abusing his former co-worker, the Virginia Beach District Attorney’s Office said.

This conviction came after 44-year-old Benjamin Lois Young was found guilty of forcible sodomy and sexual penetration with objects.

On August 16, 2022, Young told his 19-year-old former employee that she could come to Hybrid Air to pick up her final check after she was laid off due to the company’s financial difficulties. Before she arrived, he picked up her check from the front desk and brought it to his office.

According to officials, when she arrived, Young took her to his office. He chatted with her briefly and then asked her to massage her leg. After massaging her, he sexually assaulted her. She tried to leave his office, but the door was locked with a key code. Young blocked the door and told her “we should keep this between us” before opening the door.

While she was gone, she called her friend, her mother, and her stepfather, who is a police officer, and told them about the assault. She also reported it to the Virginia Beach Detective Bureau and underwent an examination by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Samples taken from her body and sent to the Department of Forensics for analysis matched Young’s DNA.

Young will be sentenced on September 16, 2024.
