Will the Houston Rockets and Trail Blazers make blockbuster trades?

The Houston Rockets are less than a month away from the 2024 NBA Draft. And with the No. 3 overall pick, the Rockets are in position to make a major move in hopes of revamping their roster for the 2024 season- 25.

The Rockets will be able to make several moves. However, the latest version of Bleacher Report may be the least realistic. Their trade idea led the Rockets to send the No. 3 pick, Dillon Brooks and Tari Eason, to the Portland Trail Blazers. In exchange, the Rockets received Jerami Grant and the No. 14 overall pick.

“The Rockets don’t need a point guard or a center, but they need more three-point volume than what someone like Brandon Ingram offers. They also might not be all totally willing to cough up the number of assets necessary to snag a star like Donovan Mitchell.

“This possibility should get the attention of the front office, as consolidation of certain assets may be necessary sooner rather than later, given the number of newcomers Houston will eventually have to pay.” – according to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report.

The Rockets will have the chance to add to their roster this offseason, but the departure of Brooks and Eason will not happen.

Brooks played an integral role in helping the Rockets finish the 2024-23 season with their first winning season since jettisoning James Harden in 2021. Eason, despite missing nearly the entire season with a neck injury, leg, is still considered one of Houston’s cornerstones.
