1 person killed in crash on Route 27 in Franklin Township

Authorities say one person died Thursday morning when a car crashed into a tree on Route 27 in Franklin Township.

Police said they received a 911 call at 9:07 a.m. about the crash near Reler Lane. According to authorities, the victim died at 9:30 a.m. due to serious injuries.

The person’s identity has not been released.

According to police, factors that contributed to the crash are currently being investigated by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team and the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.

The accident shut down part of Route 27 for four hours.
