Weather-related delay stops third round of Travelers Championship

CROMWELL – The Travelers Championship is experiencing a weather-related delay for the second day in a row.

The TPC River Highlands course was cleared on Saturday after it was announced at 3:30 p.m. that the third round was suspended due to an approaching thunderstorm. With an estimated two hours and 20 minutes of golf remaining to complete the third round, players were told play would resume around 5:30 or 6 p.m.

A storm interrupted the second round for more than three hours on Friday evening before it was resumed and finally completed around 8:30 p.m.

At the time of the delay, Akshay Bhatia and Tom Kim shared the lead at 14 under par, although neither had completed the first nine holes.

Cameron Young finished at 11 under par with a 59-stroke score, the first sub-60 on Tour since 2020 and only the 13th in Tour history before play was suspended. His round, which was just one stroke off the Travelers Championship record, put him second on the leaderboard at 13 under par when play was suspended.

Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa, three members of the U.S. Olympic team, were tied with Young at 13 under par without completing the first nine holes. Five players are just behind at 12 under par.
