2 dead and 8 injured in mass shooting outside grocery store in Arkansas

Two people were killed and eight injured in a mass shooting outside a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on Friday, state police said. Among the injured was a police officer whose injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Arkansas police arrived at the Mad Butcher grocery store at 11:30 a.m. local time on Friday. The shooter was seriously injured and taken into custody, police said.

“I have been informed of the tragic shooting in Fordyce and am in constant contact with State Police on the scene. I am grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic actions in saving lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those affected,” Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on social media.

A total of nine civilians were shot, two fatally, in a shooting outside a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on June 21, 2024, police said. A police officer was also shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
