Buffalo Bills sign Olympic gold medalist wrestler

BUFFALO, N.Y. — NFL insider Adam Schefter posted on his social media pages Friday that the Bills have reportedly signed an Olympic gold medal wrestler to their team.

In the post, Schefter wrote: “Gable Steveson, Olympic gold medalist and one of the most dominant college wrestlers in NCAA history, is heading to the NFL to sign with the Buffalo Bills, his agent Carter Chow told ESPN. Steveson signs the standard three-year rookie contract and will now join Bob Hayes as the only athletes to win a Super Bowl ring and an Olympic gold medal.

Schefter noted that Steveson is expected to play on the Bills’ defensive line because he is 6’1″ and 275 pounds. A recent practice with the Bills would have been the first time the wrestlers donned cleats.

The Bills confirmed Schefter’s reports with a post on X that read “We have signed DT Gable Steveson and released P Matt Haack.”
