TROUTMAN, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Troutman police say a Charlotte man is wanted after he fled from officers during a traffic stop.

On Thursday, July 13, officers observed a vehicle involved in a domestic violence incident on Weymouth Avenue and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Charlotte Highway and the I-77 South on-ramp.

The suspect, 40-year-old Jerome Cunningham, was the passenger in the car. Officials say he quickly got out and fled on foot from officers, who lost sight of him in a wooded area.

The dog squad called to the crime scene could not find him either. However, officers did find 44.1 grams of MDMA and 15.38 grams of marijuana in Cunningham’s car.

Police have not said whether the driver of the car was involved in the domestic violence incident or whether he helped Cunningham escape.

There are warrants out for Cunningham’s arrest. Anyone who knows where he is is asked to call Troutman police at 704-528-7610.
