Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman was driving too fast and was “to blame” for the car accident he and his wife had, Giselewere involved in Maryland on Sunday morning.

According to a Maryland State Police report, Fetterman was driving a Chevy Traverse on I-70 in northwest Maryland near Hancock. He was traveling “at a high rate of speed, well over the speed limit” before striking a Chevrolet Impala on the I-68 exit ramp at about 7:45 a.m.

The report states that neither driver was tested for alcohol or drugs and no citations were issued at the scene of the accident, but the investigation is ongoing.

Fetterman, his wife and the other driver, a 62-year-old woman, were taken to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. All three were wearing shoulder and lap belts at the time of the incident.

Fetterman released a short video on Sunday evening expressing his gratitude for the well wishes of his supporters.
