Woman arrested for double burglary in Chico | News

CHICO, California. – A woman was arrested Wednesday in Chico on two counts of burglary, Chico police said.

At about 8:50 a.m. on June 5, dispatch received a report of a burglary in the 2500 block of Esplanade, police said. The victim said he woke up and saw an unknown person in the house.

When the suspect was spotted, they left the home with some of the victim’s belongings, police said. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Then, a few hours later, around 11:30 a.m., dispatch received another report of a burglary in the 2000 block of Godman Avenue, police said. The reporter, who was not home, said he saw on security cameras an unknown person trying to open doors to homes in the area, police said.

The suspect entered a home and left the property before police arrived, police said. Officers then reviewed surveillance footage and said the suspect appeared to be the same person from the earlier burglary call on the Esplanade.

Then, around 1:20 p.m., officers patrolling the area of ​​Esplanade and East Avenue encountered a person matching the description of the suspect involved in the earlier burglaries, police said.

Officers made contact with the person and identified her as 60-year-old Laura Lee Gray, police said.

Gray was subsequently arrested for two counts of burglary and some of the stolen goods were confiscated, police said.
