Elderly Asian man attacked during driving aggression incident in NYC

(Source)

An elderly Asian man was squeezed between two cars and nearly run over in a driving aggression incident in New York City last week.

What happened: The incident reportedly occurred on March 5 at around 9:30 a.m. on the northeast corner of Cross Bronx Expressway and Jesup Avenue. Video shows a BMW driver getting out of his car in traffic to confront the Asian driver.

The situation escalates when the BMW driver opens the Asian driver’s door with force to slam the car shut. Moments later, the Asian driver gets out of his car, apparently to defend himself through the back seat door, but he is trapped between the two cars and dragged along.

The video was posted by several accounts on X, including that of former Republican candidate for New York City Council, Ying Tan.

The consequences: The 66-year-old man, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries and was later released from the hospital, ABC7 New York’s CeFaan Kim reported in an Instagram post. What led to the fight is still unknown.

Kim said the victim refused to cooperate with police, which is believed to be for cultural reasons as he is said to be Chinese and was embarrassed by the incident.

What’s next: The victim did not want to file a police report and no arrests were made, Kim said. However, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
