Investigators investigate shooting of three people in downtown Seattle

Detectives from the Settle Police Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) are investigating after three people were shot in downtown Seattle on Thursday evening.

On July 4 at 11:01 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Pike Street. They found two men with gunshot wounds and provided medical aid.

The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived on scene and continued medical care.

One of the men, 35, was shot multiple times. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in serious condition. The other man, believed to be an innocent bystander, was shot once. He was taken to HMC in serious condition.

The adult male suspect fled the scene on foot. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him.

Police cordoned off the area and GVRU investigators arrived and examined the scene. Several cartridge cases were seized as evidence.

On Friday morning at 9:39 a.m., a 31-year-old man reported to police that he had also been shot last night near 3rd Avenue & Pike Street. Officers responded and investigated. He was treated by SFD and transported to HMC in stable condition.

The circumstances leading to the shooting are being investigated by the GVRU.
