Grand jury indicts man who allegedly raped woman and mutilated dog “in a sacrificial manner”

FULTON, Missouri (KMIZ)

A man accused of mutilating a dog at a “victim’s” home and raping a woman in Holts Summit has been indicted by a grand jury.

Elijah Paul Juarez, 23, was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday. He is being held in the Callaway County Jail. His arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday in the Callaway County Courthouse. According to court documents, Juarez is a California native and was a student at Lincoln University.

He was accused of:

  • Two cases of first degree sodomy
  • First degree kidnapping
  • Four counts of third-degree assault
  • First degree rape
  • Property damage 1st degree
  • Animal cruelty
  • First degree stalking
  • Manipulation of a witness
  • Two counts of fourth-degree assault (misdemeanor)

Court documents from previous reporting say that the property manager at Juarez’s residence – in the 100 block of Rylee Circle in Holts Summit – called police on Feb. 5 when they found a bloody axe, dismembered dog body parts and a large amount of blood in the garage. The company conducted a check of the property, the probable cause affidavit states.

Police found a hatchet, two pairs of bloody scissors, various dog body parts (identified by a veterinarian), a large pool of blood that was beginning to dry, a garbage can and a freezer containing more dog body parts, and bloody clothing and shoes, the statement said.

Juarez also allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend in early February and prevented her from leaving the apartment, court documents say. The woman also informed police authorities that Juarez sexually assaulted her in January, court documents say.

The woman allegedly received threatening text messages from Juarez, saying he planned to sacrifice a dog to appease a “biblical god-like being who is often subjected to human sacrifices.” Juarez also allegedly called the victim from the Callaway County Jail to convince her not to cooperate with law enforcement, the documents say.
