Suspect sought after off-duty Philadelphia police officer robbed of weapon and hit by car

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect accused of attacking an off-duty officer and stealing his gun on Sunday.

It happened just after 7 a.m. in the 2100 block of West Oxford Street in North Philadelphia.

According to authorities, the officer managed to disarm his attacker and fired the suspect’s gun before getting away with the officer’s personal weapon.

The suspect was last seen driving toward 9th Street and Cumberland Street in a newer black BMW with tinted windows.

According to investigators, the suspect struck the officer with his vehicle as he fled the scene.

There is no information yet about the officer’s condition.

According to police, the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

He was described by police as a male between the ages of 25 and 30 with pigtails and a medium build.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white tank top, tan pants and white New Balance sneakers.

Investigators believe the suspect may go by the name “Duke.”
