Co-op is experiencing shelf shortages amid a cybersecurity incident reported last week.

A statement from Federated Co-operatives Limited, the main supplier to the Co-op food stores, said the incident had impacted some internal customer-facing systems, which could impact the company’s stock levels of certain food products.

One of those places is the Co-op grocery store in Warman. On Tuesday afternoon, the shelves in the produce and frozen food aisles were empty.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to get inventory back to normal,” said the sign in the store’s produce section.

While shelves are sparsely stocked in some parts of the province, Federated Co-operatives Limited says there is no evidence that consumer data has been compromised. (Payton Zillich/650CKOM)

Warman’s Co-op Gas Bar has also been unable to process gift cards since Tuesday afternoon.

The incident not only affected local retail stores; last week, Sherwood and Kindersley Co-op card lock stores also reported outages.

According to Federated Co-operatives Limited, there is currently no evidence of misuse of consumer data and the company will take appropriate action.
