Suspect who stabbed Beloit killed in officer-involved shootout | MyStateline

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — The suspect behind a knife attack in Beloit was shot and killed by police Thursday afternoon, leaving an officer injured.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice said Beloit police responded to reports of a stabbing in the 2000 block of Frederick Street just before 3:30 p.m. Officers found a woman with stab wounds and said the suspect had a gun in his hand while acting “violently.” Threats were made against a second person they believed was in the home.

Investigators said initial attempts to disarm the suspect using a less lethal option were unsuccessful. A second officer then shot the suspect, who died at the scene. They later learned that no one else was in the house.

The stabbing victim went to the hospital and was transferred to a trauma center where she is in stable condition. One of the officers was treated for minor injuries.

All officers involved are on administrative leave per agency policy. They were wearing body cameras during the incident.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Criminal Investigation Division is leading the case and said all law enforcement agencies involved are cooperating.
