Citizen moves LHC to investigate wheat scandal

A citizen has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court to investigate the wheat scandal involving the former caretaker prime minister.

According to reports, a petition was filed by citizen Mashkoor in connection with NAB’s investigation into the wheat scandal, listing the former caretaker prime minister, NAB and the federal government as parties to the petition.

The citizen, in his plea, took the stand that 7.78 lakh tonnes of wheat were imported in the first two months of the PML-N government and the committee constituted at the government level cannot conduct a transparent investigation. The government itself is part of the wheat scam, so a factual investigation is not possible. A request for an investigation was made to NAB, but no action was taken, it said.

It is requested that the NAB be directed to investigate the wheat mega-scandal, the plea said.
