Summary of calls to El Cerrito Police:

12th of May

  • Residential Burglary – 5300 block of Potrero Ave: At 6:01 a.m., a resident woke up to find a suspect in his home. As soon as the suspect noticed the victim’s presence, he ran out the front door.

May 13

  • Commercial Burglary/Resisting Officer – 10945 San Pablo Ave. (Hassler Heating & A/C):
    At 7:07 a.m., an employee arrived and found a suspect had climbed through a window and fled with company property. Officers located the suspect and arrested him after resisting arrest. The suspect was taken to the El Cerrito Police Department and taken to the Martinez Detention Center.
  • Vehicle tampering – 600 block of Kearney St.: At 1:44 p.m., a victim reports that a suspect struck the driver’s side door lock of his vehicle sometime between 5/11/2024 and 5/12/2024.
  • Petty Theft – 5200 block of Victor Ave: At 3:04 p.m., a suspect stole an item from an abandoned vehicle.
  • Robbery – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens): At 8:07 p.m., an officer reported that three suspects stole merchandise after asking the manager to unlock the makeup case.
  • Disobeying the Order of an Officer / Identity Theft – Eastshore Blvd. / San Pablo Ave.: At 1:54 a.m., an officer recognized a person currently on probation and attempted to contact him. The person rode away on his bicycle and disobeyed the officer’s instructions. Officers searched the area and located the suspect. During the search, it was discovered that the person was in possession of a credit card belonging to another person. The person was arrested at El Cerrito Police station and released on summons.

May 14

  • Stolen License Plates – 2100 block of Junction Avenue: At 10:24 a.m., a victim reported that his vehicle’s license plate was stolen.
  • Stolen Vehicle – 6400 block of Portola Dr: At 1:44 p.m., a victim reports that a suspect stole his vehicle sometime between May 11, 2024 and May 14, 2024.
  • Burglary and vehicle theft – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24 Hour Gym): At 2:13 p.m., a victim reported that a suspect broke into his locker, stole his car keys, and then stole his vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot.
  • Grand Larceny – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave.: At 5:30 p.m. the victim reported that his bicycle had been stolen.

15 May

  • Stolen License Plate – 800 block of Everett St.: At 9:00 a.m., the victim reported that the rear license plate of his vehicle was stolen.
  • Stolen Vehicle – 7200 block of Waldo Ave.: At 3:23 p.m., the victim reported that his vehicle was stolen.

16 May

  • Stolen and Forged Check – 800 block of Seaview Dr.: At 11:53 a.m., the victim reported that his check had been stolen and fraudulently cashed.
  • Criminal Threats – 11600 block of San Pablo Ave.: At 1:23 p.m., the victim reports that he or she received threatening text messages from a person.
  • Stolen vehicle – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS): At 5:02 p.m., an officer found a stolen vehicle and arrested the driver. The driver was arrested on El Cerrito Police Department and taken to the Martinez Detention Center.

17th of May

  • Trespassing – 11299 San Pablo Ave. (Del Norte Place): At 11:13 a.m., an officer responded to the arrest of a suspect by a citizen who had returned to the property after being told to leave the property multiple times by an employee. After refusing to leave the area, the suspect was arrested, released on a summons, and escorted from the property.
  • Warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia – Eastshore Blvd. / Potrero Ave.: At 6:55 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, officers discovered that there was an arrest warrant for the driver. During a search, officers discovered that the driver was carrying drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested on El Cerrito Police Department and taken to the Martinez Detention Center.
  • Robbery – BART route between Eureka Ave. / Lincoln Ave.: At 8:50 p.m., three suspects took the victim’s electric scooter.
  • Driving under the influence (accident) – 700 block of Elm St.: At 1:24 a.m., the driver of the vehicle collided with a pole and was contacted by police officers. A DUI investigation determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and booked into the El Cerrito Police station and was released on a summons to a sober friend.
  • Driving under the influence – Fairmount Ave. / Everett St.: At 2:21 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop. A DUI investigation determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken to El Cerrito Police station and was released on a summons to a sober friend.

18 May

  • Shoplifting – 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Horse): At 4:09 p.m., the suspects stole merchandise and fled in a vehicle before police arrived.
  • Assault with a deadly weapon/attempted robbery – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens): At 6:15 p.m., a suspect entered the store with a gun and threatened a store employee. The suspect fled the store and was tracked down by officers. The suspect was identified by the victim and arrested. The suspect was then taken into custody at El Cerrito Police Department and taken to the Martinez Detention Center.
