Masked man strangles woman with belt in US, drags body between cars to sexually abuse her

NEW DELHI: A disturbing video shared on social media shows the moment a masked attacker choked a woman with a belt, dragged her to the ground until she lost consciousness and then killed her in a horrific attack sexually assaulted on a street in the Bronx between two parked vehicles last week in New York City.

According to the New York Post, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. on May 1 when the perpetrator followed the 45-year-old victim, who police said was walking on the sidewalk at East 152nd Street and Third Avenue.

The shocking footage shows the man removing a belt and placing it around the woman’s neck. He then drags the victim several meters to the sidewalk until he becomes unconscious.

The video shows him dragging the woman between two cars and raping her.

After the attack, the attacker fled the scene and had not yet been caught.

The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the violent sexual assault, police said. However, police sources say the victim has stopped cooperating with authorities, the New York Post reported.

This heinous crime comes amid the department’s April crime statistics, which showed a slight increase in reported rapes last month – 124 compared to 118 in April 2023.

As of May 5, a total of 511 rapes were reported across the city, matching the total during the same period last year.
