Investigation into the murder of an ECI prisoner – 47abc

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland – Maryland State Police are investigating the murder of an inmate in Somerset County.

On June 1, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was contacted by investigators from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigations Unit regarding the death of an inmate that occurred on May 31 at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The occupant was identified as 49-year-old Eugene Stanford.

Stanford served his sentence at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Princess Anne.

A suspect, also an inmate, was identified.

No charges have been filed against him and his identity will not be released until charges are filed.

Investigators from the State Police Homicide Squad continue their investigation

They are supported by forensic technicians from the state police and investigators from the DPSCS internal investigation unit.
