Drones attacked the Morozovsk air base and the Tuapse oil refinery



In the early hours of July 22, combat drones attacked a Russian military airport in Morozovsk in the Rostov region and the Tuapse oil refinery in the Krasnodar region.

Eyewitness videos have been published online showing the flight of the drones and the fires after the attack.

One of the locals’ videos shows two drones flying over the city of Morozovsk one after the other at dawn, followed by huge explosions.

The Telegram channel Astra claims that the drones attacked a military base near the city.

Later, images were published on the Internet showing a column of smoke rising over Morozovsk after the explosions. Eyewitnesses reported a fire at the military airport. There are no details yet about the damage.

For his part, Governor Vasily Golubev said that Russian air defense allegedly “suppressed and destroyed” 47 drones in the north of the Rostov region. As a result of “falling debris,” “dry grass” caught fire in several areas, which was reportedly extinguished.

This is not the first time that the Russian military airport of Morozovsk has been hit by attack drones. The airfield is home to the 559th Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 1st Guards Aviation Division of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The airbase is home to Su-34 fighter-bombers and Su-30 and Su-35 combat aircraft, which Russia uses for air strikes on Ukraine.

Also on the night of Monday, July 22, attack drones attacked an oil refinery in the Russian city of Tuapse in the Krasnodar region.

The first explosions occurred after 3 a.m. near the oil refinery. Sergei Boyko, governor of the Tuapse district, said Russian air defenses allegedly intercepted eight attack drones.

At around 6 a.m., explosions were heard again in Tuapse. After that, a fire broke out on the territory of the oil refinery on an area of ​​50 square meters, allegedly “as a result of the falling of debris” from drones. At 8 a.m., it was announced that the fire in the oil refinery had been extinguished.

This Russian oil refinery has previously been hit by drone attacks, leading to its closure.
