Man stunned with taser and arrested after chase

Dora, Missouri – Gregory Hambelton, 52, a resident of Ozark County, was arrested on Sunday, June 30, 2024, following a chase. This was Hambelton’s second arrest in 3 days. He is now charged with resisting arrest, fourth-degree assault, reckless and careless driving, driving while license suspended, and operating a motorcycle without a valid license for such activities.

According to the probable cause affidavit, an Ozark County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw Hambelton riding a motorcycle near Dora. The deputy turned on his lights to conduct a traffic stop, knowing that Hambelton had a suspended driver’s license and no motorcycle registration, as he had been arrested on the same charge three days earlier. When Hambelton saw the lights, he accelerated, reaching speeds of 90 mph before he was stopped on Missouri Route CC. He then refused to comply with the deputy’s commands and attempted to record the encounter with the deputy on his phone.

The deputy warned Hambleton that he would be tasered if he did not comply with orders to put his hands behind his head. Instead, Hambleton got back on his motorcycle, whereupon the deputy tasered him and took him into custody.

Hambleton is being held in the Ozark County Jail.
