New York Jets cornerback Tae Hayes was arrested early Sunday morning in Alabama for marijuana possession.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (via the New York Post), Hayes was taken to jail and later released on $300 bail.

In a statement, the Jets are quoted as saying: “We are aware of the situation and will not comment further as this is a pending legal matter.”

Hayes made just one appearance for New York during the 2023 season after being signed to the team’s practice squad in October.

Hayes was reportedly taken to jail and later released on $300 bail.

The 26-year-old has played for nine different NFL teams since leaving Appalachian State College undrafted in 2019. He most recently played for the Baltimore Ravens and the Detroit Lions.

He also won a USFL championship with the Birmingham Stallions in 2022.

Hayes has made 14 NFL appearances since the end of his college career, but has not yet been a starter.

The Jets are scheduled to report to preseason camp for the 2024 season on July 23.

Last season, they had a miserable season after new star quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon after just four snaps in his debut against the Buffalo Bills. Without Rodgers, Robert Saleh’s men did not make the playoffs.
