Des Moines police have identified a man found dead in the waters of Easter Lake this week.

According to Polk County Conservation, park staff were alerted by several park visitors around 1:30 p.m. Thursday that they had found a body in the lake’s swimming area. A park ranger responded and interviewed witnesses before closing off the beach area and contacting Des Moines police.

According to police, patrol officers with assistance from the Des Moines Fire Department recovered the body of a deceased adult man from the water.

The man was identified as 29-year-old Abwe Etabo.
