ICE catches illegal immigrant “Gotaway” accused of raping a child

According to federal immigration officials, deportation officials have arrested an illegal immigrant who entered the United States undetected and allegedly raped a minor in Massachusetts.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Yader Alexander Morales-Queved, a 24-year-old Guatemalan national, on May 28 on charges of raping a minor in Bristol County, the agency said Monday. ICE determined that he entered the country undetected at an unknown time and place and without being screened or paroled by federal immigration authorities and classified him as an “escapee.” (RELATED: Blue State releases illegal immigrant convicted of killing two children despite ICE detention)

“Yader Alexander Morales-Quevedo will face justice, but he faces some very serious charges,” said Todd Lyons, director of ERO’s Boston field office. “He posed a significant threat to the children in our Massachusetts communities.”

“ERO Boston will continue to make public safety our highest priority by apprehending and removing criminal aliens from our New England neighborhoods,” Lyons continued.

The New Bedford District Court charged Morales-Quevedo with rape of a minor in August 2022 and then forwarded the charges to Superior Court, according to ICE. Morales-Quevedo was charged in January 2023 by the Bristol County Superior Court with “rape of a child and depiction of a child in a nude, lascivious pose/exhibition.”

The Guatemalan citizen will remain in ERO custody until his deportation proceedings are completed, the agency confirmed.

The announcement follows other arrests in New England that the agency has pointed to. ICE’s Boston office on Friday sharply criticized Rhode Island authorities for releasing an illegal immigrant who was locally accused of sexually assaulting a person with a “severe mental disability” while failing to comply with an ICE detention order.

According to the latest federal data, the number of known escapees has exploded under the Biden administration.

In the three years from fiscal year 2021 to fiscal year 2023, more than 1.6 million known escapes were recorded, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data released upon request. The number is higher than all known escapes recorded under both the Trump and Obama administrations from fiscal year 2010 to fiscal year 2020.

These figures also do not take into account unknown escape attempts.
