I-68 closed near Cheat Lake due to multi-vehicle crash

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A multi-vehicle crash in Monongalia County caused westbound Interstate 68 to be closed Thursday afternoon, the Monongalia County Communications Center confirmed.

The accident was reported shortly after 1 p.m. near exit 10.


Communications officials told 12 News that they do not know the exact number of vehicles involved in the incident, as emergency responders on the scene reported the incident involving “multiple” vehicles, but no injuries have been reported so far.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the Monongalia County Emergency Management Agency asked motorists to avoid the area and said the road would be closed for an “unknown period of time.” Emergency officials also had no estimate of when the road would reopen.
