50 Cent is suing ex Daphne Joy for defamation over rape allegations

Rapper 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-partner Daphne Joy this week. Back in March, Joy publicly accused Jackson of raping and physically abusing her during their relationship, claims that Jackson says are unfounded.

Jackson claims in his lawsuit that Joy (full name Daphne Joy Narvaez) not only made the allegations “false and defamatory,” but that it was a “calculated attack” — an attack that his attorney says was likely carried out by Narvaez ‘ Relationship with embattled hip-hop fans was motivated. Hops mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

“Despite having ample opportunity to withdraw a false and malicious retaliatory accusation, Ms. Narvaez shamefully chose to disrupt her 11-year-old son’s relationship with his loving father by falsely calling him a ‘rapist,'” said Reena Jain from Jackson’s lawyers, The Daily Beast said in a statement.

“The motivation behind this appears to be Ms. Narvaez’s unfortunate involvement and her misplaced loyalty to Mr. Combs, who we believe was behind this attack and about whom Mr. Jackson has warned Ms. Narvaez and others for many years,” Jain said .

The Daily Beast reached out to Combs’ representatives for comment but did not receive a response.

Joy was named in one of the bombshell lawsuits filed against Combs in recent months. As part of his lawsuit against Combs, whom he accused of sexual assault, music producer Rodney Jones alleged that Joy was one of several women whom Diddy “bragged about…receiving a monthly stipend for sex work.” Joy denied Jones’ allegations in an Instagram post that differs from the post in which she made her claims about Jackson.

“Everything is a joke to you until your safety is compromised, which is what is happening now,” Joy wrote to Jackson on her Instagram Story on March 28. “You wreak havoc on people’s lives with real devastation, frenzy and chaos.” How would you feel if Sire was the one wearing handcuffs? For nothing.”

“I am tired of maintaining and protecting an image for our son that you have never deserved,” Joy wrote. “Let’s put the real focus on your true evil deeds of raping and physically abusing me.”

According to Jackson, Joy made a “deliberate attempt, based on information and belief, to destroy his personal and business reputation, harm Jackson’s commercial and business interests, negatively impact his custody case, and prevent him from seeing his minor son,” according to the statement of claim.

Narvaez and Jackson have been in an ongoing custody battle over their son Sire since at least March, when reports surfaced that Jackson was seeking sole custody in response to Joy being named in Jones’ lawsuit.

Joy released her claims about Jackson’s allegedly abusive behavior on March 28. “Daphne Joy’s recent false and baseless allegations are clearly in response to my decision to seek sole custody of my son,” a representative for 50 Cent said in a statement shortly afterward.
