SHERIFF: Georgia man arrested for inappropriate Snapchats with DeKalb County child

DEKALB COUNTY, Alabama (WHNT) – A Georgia man was arrested in DeKalb County and charged with electronic solicitation of a child, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), in February the Criminal Investigation Department received a report of a 12-year-old girl who had been sexually harassed via Snapchat by an unknown adult male.

After an investigation, the man was identified as 21-year-old Jehad Noman Saloum of Augusta, Georgia. A warrant was issued for Saloum’s arrest and both DCSO and Georgia State Law Enforcement attempted to locate him.

The sheriff’s office said he was arrested in Hillsborough County, Florida, in May and extradition proceedings have begun to return him to DeKalb County.

On June 7, Saloum was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center on charges of electronic luring of a child. He is being held on $150,000 bail.
