1 dead in police shooting in southeast Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — One person is dead after a shooting as officers attempted to serve a search warrant in Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

According to PPB, detectives from the PPB Major Crimes Team and the Special Emergency Reaction Team served a search warrant near Southeast 124th Avenue and East Burnside Street on Monday evening.

During the search warrant, police announced that an “encounter” occurred between an adult male and officers. The encounter culminated in a shootout that resulted in the man’s death, according to PPB.

PPB said no officers were injured and several roads in the area were closed due to the investigation.
