The Story County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early Saturday morning attack that left a woman stabbed. The attack occurred just before 5 a.m. Saturday. The victim told authorities that a stranger knocked on her window multiple times at her home near Gilbert High School. When she went outside to confront him, the man attacked her with a knife. Authorities say the man was wearing a red checkered ski mask and is described as stocky and 5’10” tall. He fled the scene on foot. GILBERT, Iowa —

The Story County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attack early Saturday morning that left a woman with stab wounds.

The attack occurred just before 5 a.m. Saturday. The victim told authorities that a stranger knocked on her window several times at her home near Gilbert High School. When she went outside to confront him, the man attacked her with a knife.

According to authorities, the man was wearing a red checkered ski mask and is described as stocky and 5’10” tall. He fled the scene on foot.

The woman was treated at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
