Alyson Cranick

A former Connecticut school employee accused of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy has been rearrested after authorities accused her of violating her bail conditions by sending messages to a 13-year-old girl on Snapchat.

Alyson Cranick, 42, was previously arrested on two consecutive days in different jurisdictions on Nov. 14 and 15. She was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of endangering a minor in Tolland County. She was charged with the same charges in New London County, but one less count of endangering a minor, according to Connecticut State Police.

According to previous reporting by PEOPLE, an arrest warrant accuses Cranick of repeatedly sexually abusing the 11-year-old in July and August 2022.

Police accuse Cranick of having sexual intercourse with the boy at multiple locations, the warrant states, and that hundreds of messages between the two were allegedly “often flirtatious and sexual in nature.” Cranick also allegedly sent the boy a picture of a bracelet she had made for him with the acronym “BFFLWB,” which means “best friends for life with benefits,” according to the warrant.

Cranick was required to post bail after both arrests and was placed under intensive surveillance, according to state police, which also prohibited him from having unsupervised contact with minors.

On November 27, State Police received a report alleging that Cranick sent a message to a 13-year-old girl via Snapchat on November 24.

According to state police, Cranick subsequently agreed to an interview in which she allegedly told a trooper that her relative had been shopping with the girl and that the relative had sent Cranick a message via Snapchat using the girl’s phone. Cranick also told the trooper that her relative was seen in the message from the girl’s account and that she responded with an emoji because she believed her relative had sent the message, state police allege.

However, after further investigation, state police allege the girl had already unfriended Cranick on Snapchat on Nov. 16, the day after her second arrest, but later felt bad and added her back. Police say the girl’s parents saw her phone and allegedly noticed that she had a “streak” affair with Cranick, meaning they had been messaging each other on consecutive days.

Cranick was arrested again on Nov. 28. She was accused of violating conditions of confinement in Tolland and New London, police said. She is being held on a total of $1.5 million bail.

An attorney for Cranick was not immediately available for contact. It is not clear whether Cranick has entered a guilty plea, although her next court date is scheduled for Dec. 15 in Tolland County, court records show.
