Man shot with taser arrested with help from Wichita Falls citizen

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) – A man who was shot with a Taser but continued to resist and attempt to gain control of the Taser was arrested with the help of a bystander, according to WFPD officials.

Isaiah Aleman was released on $13,000 bail and faces charges of criminal damage, resisting arrest and attempting to take a police officer’s weapon.

On Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2024, police responded to a report of an angry man tearing down a fence and arrived in the 4500 block of Melody Lane.

When police arrived, the suspect said he was being held by two people who were trying to calm him down.

Officers said they tried to detain the man, but he continued to resist and was shot with a Taser. As the struggle continued, he grabbed an officer’s Taser, according to police.

The officer allegedly warned him to let go or he would be shot. That’s when the bystander stepped in and helped them gain control of the suspect and detain him, officers said.

Aleman was taken to the hospital and cleared for admission.
