Investigations underway after body found in Alton

According to Alton police, a search for a missing person led to the discovery of a body.

The body of an unidentified man was discovered around 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of East Juarez Avenue, according to Alton Deputy Police Chief Michael Martinez.

A news release from Alton police said the decomposed body was found in a residence while police were investigating leads about a missing person. Police did not identify the missing person or say if the body was that of the missing person.
