Civil utility companies DSO and DM suspended

NIZAMABAD: Jagadish Kumar, district manager of Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation, and Chandra Prakash, district supplies officer, have been suspended for alleged irregularities in rice milling.

In a swift response to the news article in the Deccan Chronicle, Civil Supplies Corporation Managing Director Devendra Singh Chouhan issued the stay orders on Thursday.

In a huge fraud, rice worth around Rs 75 crore belonging to government authorities was embezzled from seven rice millers in Nizamabad district.

The issue concerns the financial years 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23. During this period, the rice mills owned by former BRS MP Shakil Amer have not handed over their rice stocks to the government authorities.

These agencies had been buying rice from farmers after assuring them a minimum price and then handing it over to rice millers who then processed it into rice. However, some rice millers were selling the government rice on the black market and not returning it to the government.

It is estimated that rice worth around Rs 75 million was embezzled in Nizamabad district alone.

Medchal Malkajgiri DSO and DM-CS were appointed in-charges of Nizamabad district.

Meanwhile, Additional Customs Officer Kiran Kumar inspected the Civil Supplies Office on Friday. He directed the officials to be more cautious and cautious while conducting custom rice milling in the district.
