Police in Manchester search for fatal hit-and-run accident

MANCHESTER — A 71-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash last week. Authorities are asking the public for help in locating the driver of the vehicle involved, Manchester police reported Wednesday.

The incident occurred on July 3 at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Central St. and Union St. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the elderly victim lying on the sidewalk with a serious head injury.

He was immediately taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Eyewitnesses described the suspect vehicle as a black Nissan Rogue, possibly with veteran plates, that collided with the man’s bicycle.

After the impact, the car continued east on Central Street without stopping.

The Manchester Police Traffic Unit is currently actively investigating the case and is asking anyone with information regarding the accident or the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle to contact them at 603-668-8711.
