Double shooting reported at Cambridge Field, woman found near basketball courts: Police increase patrols

Police are investigating a double shooting at a Cambridge sports field after an injured woman was found near the basketball court and a shot man was located nearby.

Cambridge police have deployed extra patrols in the area near Donnelly Field “out of an abundance of caution” following the double shooting on Thursday evening.

Police officers responded to the field at 91 Berkshire St. after multiple gunshots were reported around 9:39 p.m.

Police found a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman at the scene who were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both individuals are Cambridge residents.

“The female victim was located on the basketball court and the male victim was found further down Willow Street,” police said in a statement. “No other injuries were reported.”

Several cartridge cases were found at the crime scene. The police initially made no arrests.

Detectives continued to investigate the incident.
