Drake Bell on the “calm on set” reaction after allegations of sexual abuse

Melissa Schuman explained why she had decided to make her allegations Nick Carter sexually harassed them in the identification documents Fallen idols: Nick and Aaron Carter.

“One day I sat down at my computer and started writing about the details of the attack,” Melissa, 39, explained in a teaser clip for the documentary, which was released on Thursday, May 23. “I didn’t publish it, I just sat there.” on it. I deleted it at some point.”

Despite her initial reluctance to disclose her allegations against 44-year-old Nick, Melissa said she eventually spoke out about her experience when she was “triggered” one night.

“My husband looks at me and says, ‘Melissa, you can’t keep living like this,'” she recalled of a conversation with her husband Brandon Henschel“I told him… I said, ‘I can’t publish it.’ And he said, ‘Should I do that?’ And I said, ‘Yes.'”

Melissa shared her allegations in a personal blog in November 2017, claiming that Nick raped her in 2003. The alleged incident occurred when she was just 18 years old, and the Backstreet Boys member invited her to hang out at his Santa Monica apartment while they were working on a TV movie together.

The former Dream member said she went to Nick’s house with her friend on a day off from filming and “got them alcohol,” claiming he “asked her if I wanted to come to his office and listen to new music.” , which he was working on”.

“Of course we started kissing,” Melissa claimed, adding, “He knew I was a virgin and that I held conservative Christian values. I spoke openly about it.”

The situation turned awkward when Nick took her to the bathroom, “placed me on the bathroom counter and started unbuttoning my pants.” She said she “told him she didn’t want to go any further.” He didn’t care.”

“He started having oral sex on me. I told him to stop but he didn’t. So I turned off the light in the bathroom so I couldn’t see anything. “He kept turning the light on because he told me he wanted to look at me,” Melissa wrote, claiming he then demanded that she perform oral sex on him. However, she refused and he reportedly became angry.

She continued: “I realized I couldn’t leave. He was stronger and much bigger than me and there was no way I could have opened the door and no one could have helped me. My friend couldn’t help me, I didn’t even know where she was.”

“When he put my hand on his penis, I thought the only way out was to make him finish what he started,” Melissa wrote. “There I saw myself, my reflection, watching myself do something I was disgusted by. Seeing myself being attacked and forced to do something against my will.”

Melissa said she wanted to file a complaint against Nick, but did not go through with the lawsuit because she could not afford to go to court against the “Everybody” singer.

Investigation discovery

After Melissa made her allegations public, prosecutors in Los Angeles did not file sexual assault charges against Nick in September 2018 because the statute of limitations had already expired in 2013.

Nick’s lawyer, Michael Holtzresponded to the case after it was dismissed. “Nick Carter was acquitted today when the LA County District Attorney’s Office dropped the charges against him,” he said in a statement to CNN at the time.

“Nick has denied these allegations since he first learned of them last year and was confident that the District Attorney would conclude there was no basis for charges against him,” the statement said. “He is glad to put this matter behind him.”
